About ISO TC188 South Africa

Our Mission

We are a group of dedicated volunteers who meet four times a year to discuss, vote on, and comment on ISO standards under ISO TC188. Our goal is to ensure South African voices are heard in global marine standards development.

What We Do

We review and provide input on international standards for recreational craft, marine propulsion systems, safety requirements, construction standards, and environmental performance guidelines.

Why It Matters

By participating in ISO TC188, South African boatbuilders gain better market access, enhanced safety standards, and a voice in creating the rules that govern our industry's future.

Committee Meetings

We meet four times per year to review standards and provide industry input. Meetings are hosted at SAMSA with professional oversight and coordination.
